In the current global environment, it is so important for individuals and organisations to be strategic in their approach to education and training. In the complex and dynamic domain of capability management, edVirtus responds with a collective of international experts in Defence, industry, and academia to deliver a comprehensive range of specialist courses for Defence and Defence industry.

edVirtus presenters—Dr Mike Ryan, Dr Shari Soutberg, Dr Ian Faulconbridge, Dr Craig Benson, Dr Trevor Wheatley, Dr Chris Jackson, Dr John Davies, and Mr Matt Squair—apply their extensive experience to meet strategic education and training goals in capability life cycle, systems engineering, project management, communications systems, military systems, and laser safety.

edVirtus arose from a need to address the growing demand for knowledge and skills in the capability management environment, particularly in Defence. For example, the Capability Life Cycle Introduction course which runs four times a year, provides a comprehensive overview of how the Australian Defence Organisation delivers and manages capability. Supporting courses focus on the program and project management layers of the Defence capability accountability model.

Working in Defence projects requires a deeper understanding of the disciplines of Project Management and Systems Engineering including the associated processes, tools, and management practices. edVirtus courses place systems engineering principles in the context of related disciplines involved in the delivery and management of capability. Disciplines such as Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM); Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA); Systems Safety; and Human Factors are explained in courses tailored for managers and discipline experts. More comprehensive courses provide a focus on critical activities such as Requirements Writing and the development of Project Execution Strategies.

To support the development of military systems, edVirtus provides training for engineers and project managers that work in technical domains such as Tactical Electronic Warfare and Explosive Ordnance Systems. Managers and specialists can undertake courses in aircraft systems including Radar Fundamentals, Avionics Systems, Guided Weapons, and Air Weapons Integration. Courses are available in the Fundamentals of Communications Systems and Satellite Communications Systems.

edVirtus Laser Safety courses meet the needs of Australian/International standards for laser safety officers (Defence Level 1 Laser Safety Officer—LSO1), laser safety supervisors (Defence Level 2 Laser Safety Officer—LSO2), and laser operators and maintainers. These courses are convened across most major Australian cities during the year and in virtual mode.

edVirtus Courses are delivered in physical and virtual modes. Live presenters engage with attendees in real time. The courses program is available on the edVirtus website along with locations, dates, and timings. On completion of a course, attendees retain their comprehensive course materials and gain a certificate of completion.

Individuals and groups register for scheduled courses online. Organisations can design tailored in-house courses delivered directly to their workplaces, either in-person or virtually. Bulk training packages are available to organisations with significantly discounted flexible packages that place multiple people over many differentcourses throughout the year. In addition, specific needs-based workshops can be facilitated.

During times of uncertainty, individuals and organisations who engage training partners can better position their current and future workforces. The team at edVirtus understands this and is well equipped to assist in the realisation of strategic education and training goals.
