Following our announcement of the Women in Defence Awards 2025 finalists, ADM will be introducing each of our amazing finalists across our categories in more detail. Today we are focusing on the finalists in Marketing and Communications!

Judges were on the lookout for entries that exhibited excellence in delivering communications/marketing/stakeholder engagement beyond the expectations of their job description. The finalists conceived and/or implemented strategies in 2024 that were creative, original, and delivered exceptional outcomes for their organisation or client.

Many are also excellent ambassadors for Defence or Defence industry, championing Defence’s vision in their pursuits outside of work.

The winners and Hall of Fame inductee will be announced at a gala dinner at The National Arboretum, Canberra, on 15 October 2025. Book your tickets here – we hope to see you there!

Air and Space Power Centre
Cassandra is the creator of the Hangar 46 podcast, the first podcast for Air and Space Power Centre that discusses Air Power through educational and societal lenses. After a rapid learning curve, she took the podcast on the road and in 2024 recorded, edited and released 23 episodes. She also created the Clear to Launch program, an initiative aimed at junior aviators. Part of this program includes a Pitch Fest, where juniors get to present their ideas to senior leaders allowing their voices and ideas to be heard.

Jennifer used exceptional communication and story telling skills to make Australia’s security challenges understandable and urgent for a broad audience while directly shaping policy deliberations. She is a regular contributor to The Australian, Australian Financial Review, the Sydney Morning Herald and The Conversation. She has used her profile to cultivates pathway for other women into defence and strategic policy. Her deliberate practice of elevating female expertise ensures women’s perspectives are heard in parliamentary submissions, media debates and industry forums.

Sarah Vesey

Sarah is Primary School Teacher by day and Army Public Affairs Officer by night. Her expertise has been fundamental in the development and provision of strategic communications plans to ADF Drone Racing team. Sarah also leads the coaching, training and preparation of young Defence drone racing pilots to be confident in talking to media, to working with in front of a camera, and to be able to convey the essential talking points about racing and STEM.  In 2024 she extended her role as PAO, leading the team recently to the complete in the Military International Drone Racing Tournament held in the USA as the Team Manager. The ADF team went on win this competition.
