Capability Management - Project Layer Course

Join edVirtus for a three-day professional education course for those needing an understanding of the processes and management practices associated with project management in the Defence environment, particularly as part of the Australian Defence Capability Management. Dr Shari Soutberg & Dr Mike Ryan introduce participants to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and particularly to how it can be used to guide Defence project management and develop key Defence capability project artefacts. On completion of the course, attendees will be able to describe the application of project management in Defence including: project management roles and the place of projects in the Defence Capability Program Architecture (CPA); the meaning of integrated project management in Defence; and when and how project management is applied across the capability life cycle. This course also provides an opportunity to develop an understanding of the principal project artefacts associated with the capability life cycle: the Joint Capability Need Statement (JCNS), the Operational Concept Document (OCD), the Function and Performance Specification (FPS), Project Execution Strategy (PES) and supporting Project plans. A guided walkthrough of the OCD Development Guide is provided and selected important activities are discussed in detail.
