Northern Australia Defence Summit

The 9th Annual Northern Australia Defence Summit will be a high level policy-driven summit. This year’s event will focus on creating strategic sovereign maritime capability in the North, upgrading and maintaining Defence estate and infrastructure and fostering a strengthened local Defence industry. It will also assess Northern Australia’s geo-strategic importance and regional partnerships such as USFPI and ASMTI. The Summit will hear from Ministers, senior Defence personnel, leaders of industry, SMEs, academics and strategic analysts.

The Summit will focus on the Australian government’s continuing aim to develop an internationally competitive Space sector.


The Summit’s unique, interactive environment fosters effective partnering between Defence and Industry; a critical factor in achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.


The planned combined in-person and live-streamed event on 8 September 2021 will be postponed to 2022 (dates TBA).


This major Defence/Industry Conference has evolved into a pivotal event in the Defence calendar, attracting over 600 delegates each year.


Instead of the previously planned PACIFIC dates in August 2021, INDO PACIFIC will now, in the wake of COVID-19, initially be held during May 2022.


Robonation and Defence Science and Technology Group are hosting the 2022 Maritime RobotX Challenge, an international autonomous maritime robotic vehicles competition.
