PARARI 2024

The Department of Defence, through the Directorate of Ordnance Safety – Explosive Ordnance Branch, is pleased to invite you to attend the PARARI 2024 Australian Explosive Ordnance Safety Symposium – Interoperability and Interchangeability.

PARARI serves as Defence's biennial international Explosive Ordnance (EO) Safety Symposium, aiming to facilitate professional development, education, and networking opportunities for EO safety experts and practitioners. Since its inception in 1993, PARARI, currently hosted by the Directorate of Ordnance Safety, has a strong network of leaders, educators, policy makers and world class engineers and scientists within the domestic and international EO community.

This symposium provides a platform for delegates from across the globe to enrich dialogue discussions into a wide array of explosives, munitions, and risk mitigation topics.

The theme for this year's prestigious event is safety in 'Interoperability and Interchangeability'.

Interoperability is the ability for forces of two or more nations to train, exercise and operate effectively together in the execution of assigned missions and tasks.

Interchangeability is the ability to substitute one item for another of different composition or origin, between nations, without loss in effectiveness, accuracy and safety performance of weapons systems.
