Canberra companies Advanced Design Technology (ADT) and Penten have been awarded contracts worth a total of more than $8 million to continue developing electronic warfare technology for Defence and the AUKUS nations.

The contracts are part of the AUKUS Pillar II EW Innovation Challenge which tasked companies with using the electromagnetic spectrum to improve Defence targeting across six stages of the targeting cycle; finding, fixing, tracking, targeting, engaging and assessing.

“I look forward to seeing the cutting-edge capabilities ADT and Penten will deliver for the Australian Defence Force and AUKUS to secure a competitive advantage and deter potential threats to regional security," said the Minister for Defence Industry and Capability Delivery, Pat Conroy.

The funding will be used to assist in the development and demonstration of electronic warfare prototypes that meet Australian Defence Force (ADF) requirements. They will also help demonstrate Australian capability to the US and UK.

“The AUKUS Innovation Challenge Series is a powerful example of how ASCA is accelerating advanced capabilities for our ADF while ensuring local innovators are at the forefront of Australia’s growing sovereign industrial base."
