Defence Trailblazer, QuantX Labs, and the University of Adelaide have agreed to a partnership that will advance quantum technology.

The partnership will focus on developing atomic clock technology beyond current industry standards. Atomic clocks are critical for alternative Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) capabilities, both terrestrial and space-based.

“QuantX is excited to partner with the University of Adelaide and Defence Trailblazer to advance atomic clock technology. Defence Trailblazer gives us the ability to harness the complementary expertise and talents of our company’s staff and those of the researchers and graduate students at University of Adelaide. Together, we’re ready and able to push the limits of precision timing," said QuantX Labs' Head of PNT, Dr Sebastian Ng.

In September, QuantX Labs sold two atomic clocks to Defence for $2.7 million. One clock will be delivered to Defence Science and Technology Group. The other optical atomic clock will support AUKUS Pillar II initiatives.
