ADM Defence Skilling Summit
The inaugural ADM Defence Skilling Summit, hosted by the Tasmanian Government, will be a one-day, high-level, executive gathering of key players from both Defence and Defence Industry. They will address the current and future skills requirements needed for Australia to remain a global player in the Defence space and to deliver and sustain the nation’s future Defence capability.
The Summit will assess how well-placed academic institutions and training providers are to deliver the skillsets of tomorrow; ask what more industry seeks from its education providers; and examine the impediments educators face in producing world-class, industry-ready graduates.
The conference will look at best-case scenarios for the re-skilling and upskilling of the current labour force, and how continuous improvement programs can deliver an agile, flexible and efficient workforce.
And with a new Federal parliamentary term starting, the Summit will provide a timely opportunity to assess initiatives such as SADI and look at the appetite for future programs to assist industry with its re-skilling program. The conference will also scope the appeal for quick-fix solutions through programs such as skilled migration and assess the impact on wages and overall project costs these can cause.
